Royal Canadian Air Force McDonnell-Douglas CF-188 belonging to the 410 (Operational Training Unit) Squadron at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta visiting Ft.Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. P5 CTS/TCTS incorporates a long-range datalink to continuously transmit and receive the Time, Space, Position Information (TSPI) of each aircraft during the exercise and to send Real-Time Kill Notifications (RTKN) to the aircrew via synthesized voice communications. The system can be used in tethered/range operations for monitoring and managing the exercise on the ground or at sea aboard aircraft carriers. In addition, the P5 system can also be used without ground stations for untethered/range-less operations, allowing pilots to train “anywhere, anytime.” Either approach provides realistic, real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat training missions.
